New customer campaign

“The workforce development team spend up to 15 hours with an organisation getting to know the business and its training needs from the factory floor to the CEO.”

Unlock your people power

With New Zealand facing a skills’ shortage, on-the-job training is critical to provide more skilled workers and ensure industry remains sustainable, productive and competitive. ‘Unlock your people power’ was the call to action for employers to engage the services of the Competenz workforce development team to assess their training needs during a 2018 campaign.

Launched in May, the successful campaign reached out to employers via digital advertising, Air New Zealand’s inflight Kia Ora Magazine advertising, video, social media, trade magazine advertising, event collateral and a landing page on the Competenz website.

Targeting engineering, general manufacturing and food and beverage companies with more than 50 employees, advertising was directed at learning and development practitioners, HR managers, general managers and CEOs.

The geographical targets were Auckland, Waikato, Bay of Plenty and Wellington.

The campaign aim was for employers to book a consultation with a member of the specialised Competenz workforce development team, who spend up to 15 hours with an organisation getting to know the business and its training and development needs, from the factory floor to the CEO.

During their time at the business, the team consults with staff to find exactly what the organisation’s pain points are and how they can benefit from training and development, from full apprenticeships and traineeships to microlearning and soft skills.

The campaign outcomes saw workforce development working alongside more employers to arrange training for nationally recognised qualifications to upskill their workforce.
